Meet the stylists part 3

Hi, my name is James.
I wasn't really scared about starting college but I was scared of meeting the people in my class.
But now I feel comfy with my group and I'm having a great laugh.
In the future I want to take up barbering but still want to carry on teaching dance.

Hi. My name is Roxsana and I am 17 years old.
I was scared to met my new class friends but Jim I think they are nice and friendly.
At the end of this year I would like to become a professional hairdresser. I really enjoy what I am doing so hopefully I will get far in life.

My name is Sophie.
I felt fine starting college and was not scared of meeting the new students on my course as I was on the entry 3 course and have moved up to level one.  I think my tutor is nice, she Is fair and I can have a laugh with her. Thank you.

Meet the stylists part two.

Hi, my name is Georgina.
At the start I felt quite nervous because I was scared I wouldn't be able to keep up with the group. Now I know them and I can't wait to spend the rest of the year with them.
After level one I want to continue to level two and then achieve a diploma in level three.

Hi, my name is Ella.
I felt very nervous starting college because I didn't know anybody at all on my course. My goal is to qualify in hairdressing and then do a beauty course so I can start my own business in Hair and Beauty.

Hey! I'm Lydia.
When I started college I felt a little weird thinking I was going to be older than everyone else and that I wouldn't fit in with them, but we all get along really well. Everyone asked me about my daughter which has made it a bit easier on me. Hairdressing is something I have been wanting to do and now Ai have the chance. I'm really enjoying it.

Hello, my name is Holly.
I felt really nervous when I first started college because meeting new people isn't my thing!
My first day I met a great bunch of people and realised one of my old friends was also on the course.
To say I have only been here two weeks I feel like these next few years are going to be amazing.

Meet the stylists.

Here we are again. It's time to meet some of Nelson and Colne Colleges new stylists of 2016.

Hello, my name is Jade.
When I first started college I was scared, walking into the college gates thinking ' I want to go home' but I have now met new people who have the same sense of humour as me.
My tutor Lisa - well everyone loves Lisa and scary Mary hehe! Lisa is like my third mother and knows how to treat everyone the same.

Hello, I'm Chloe,
In my opinion I feel college is a great experience from the two weeks I have been here it's been great.
I was nervous to meet the other new students but I am grateful of meeting them as they are funny and down to earth.
My tutor Lisa is amazing and helps me through the stages of what I'm doing, good and bad and how I need to achieve things.
When I am older I would like to open a salon of my own because I have always wanted to be a hairdresser. I feel college will help me a lot.

Hi, my name is Hassan.
I felt really nervous when I started college but now I know my class, we were all made to feel really welcome.
Lisa is a great teacher and also very funny.
The course is going well so far. When I ask for help from Lisa or Mary they come straightaway.

Hi my name is Amy.
When I first started at this college I felt nervous until I met the group and found they are lovely and we all get on with each other very well. My first thoughts about Lisa my tutor is that she is kind, understanding and very helpful.  I am enjoying the course so far even though we are only at the starting point.
When I leave college my goal is to either have my own salon or be mobile.

At the start of the year I was nervous but now I've got to know everybody and my tutor i jusr don't want the year to end.
I am excited to start next year as I can be open with everyone as we are like a family.
What life lessons have I learnt?
To keep my mouth shut and dont let everyone know your business, then evryone will get on and be happy.
What will the new level ones need?
They wil need positive thoughts, pens, paper, and a big smile!
You also need to make sure you always wear your uniform and bring your kits.

Meet the stylists now!

At the beginning of the year I asked the new students to write about how they felt about starting the programme. Now they have completed and are ready to start their level twos, I asked them to say how they feel now.

Kirsty

Now

How she was in September

When I first started college I was really nervous and didn't know what to expect.
Now it has come to the end of level one I am really excited to be starting level two and feel very proud of myself for how much I have achieved in the past few months. I am very confident that I will become a good hairdresser and I have enjoyed learning and taking part in all the different activities we have done.
When I first started I was nervous that I wouldnt get along with the people in my class. We have had our ups and down but after support and team building I now think I have made some very good friends who will probably be my friends for a very long time.
I have also met two amazing teachers in Lisa and Mary, without these two I wouldnt be where I am today!
Thanks to Lisa I have not only learnt how to be a hairdresser but I have also learnt to be a better person. I gave gained many life skills from my time at college and look forward to my future as a professional hairdresser.
If I could gave any advice to someone starting this course I would say.
Always be yourself, keep positive and remember why you are at college. ALWAYS listen to Lisa because she is always right! and if you want to go far... get you head down and concentrate.

Charlotte

Now

And then

I feel that I can now be more confident with myself and I have learnt so much over this last year and feel that I am ready for level two.
I have had so much fun with our class having Lisa as our tutor.

My advice to the new level ones. always remember your uniform and kit, pen and paper for theory lessons. You will learn all the basics and feel ready for starting level two. The life lessons you will learn are to be yourself and not let anyone get in your way of completing your hairdressing course.

Jayleigh

Now

And then

I feel like I have learnt a lot over the year and now we have all bonded really well. I wish Lisa and Mary could teach us on level two. We have had so fun having Lisa and Mary as our tutor and helper.

The advice I would give..
You will need to wear your uniform and kit everytime you are in the salon. You will learn the basics of hairdressing and all the skills you will need for level two.

Wow! Look how they have grown. Don't they look like real stylists now.
