Team building the fencing way!

We had our first team building session today with Alexis and we did some fencing!

We tried some techniques first.

Then we got our vests on.

Then we got into battle!

All good fun.

Team building works!

The 1920's makeovers!

These girls worked so hard today. Just look what they have done!

1920's makeover. Hair, makeup and costume.

First setting the curls.

Then the makeup and hair up.

And the finished results....

Let's not forget the stylists.

To say I am proud of these girls is an understatement. If this is what they can produce on Entry 3 goodness only knows what they will be doing by the time they get to level 3!

Well done all of you.

Well done Entry 3.

Planning and running a trip.
And that's just what these five did.
By emailing to order the minibus, researching directions and prices of products and making signs to writing risk assessments.
They all made a great trip to Salon Services happen.

And ..... A unit completed!

Well done entry 3, I'm very proud of you.

1920's makeovers. Let's practise!

Today the Entry 3 group started on creating looks from the 1920's.
First of all we looked at different hairstyles then chose one to recreate.

We chose some quite difficult techniques but Lisa said we did great.

What do you think?

Next it was makeup time!

We couldn't wait to get started.

We had so much fun, we had a selfie to celebrate!

Treasure hunt time

I mentioned in past posts that I was teaching the Entry 3 level this year as well as the level ones.
The entry 3 programme is a mixture of Hair and Beauty and we have lots of exciting things planned.
For their induction with me today we did a 'treasure hunt' round college.
Clues had been hidden in different places.

From this, the group now know,

Where the hairdressing books are in the L.R.C.
How to get to the hair and beauty department
How to find an email.
Where I can be found if they need me.
Where the notice boards are,
Where the reception desk is.

It was fun!

Getting the work bag out.

After two and a half weeks off I decided it was time to get the work bag out and start some prepping for the new academic year.

This year I will be teaching Level ones and Entry 3 level Hair and Beauty giving them the start they need in order to progress to their future careers.

Taking a look at the past blog posts has been a great help in reminding me what was great and what I would do differently this time.

My mind has started to get back slowly into work mode even if it is while im sat in the garden. Exciting ideas are immurging I think by the time the students arrive I will be ready and waiting!
