First time foils.

Today we had our first session about foiling.
First of all we had to section the hair correctly.

Then after a demonstration by Lisa, we tried ourselves.

We really enjoyed it and Lisa said we did a great job for our first time.

What do you think?

CUTTING!!!!

Yeah at last we were cutting again.
We did remember some of what we learnt last time but Lisa soon recapped everything with a step by step demonstration and we soon got started.

Taking the correct sections (that's maths)

Holding the hair at zero degrees (that's maths!)

Palming our scissors and taking the first section

Seeing the guidelines

Concentration

Getting it checked

Calming our peers down with a massage when they get stressed about it!

Some of the end results!

Foiling fun

I'm Our first lesson on foiling today!
We loved it! We found out why we foil then after a demonstration on sectioning which we soon mastered, ( our maths helped!)
we were shown how to weave, apply and fold the foils.

We remembered our PPE and Lisa draw diagrams on the mirrors to help us. It really helped Leah.

Loni and Mamoona took charge of making a tutorial ( watch out for that blog post)

We were kept very busy

And there was come good concentration faces!

And of course .... Laughter!

For our first time this is what we managed in two hours.

Kara is happy

And Lisa was well impressed.

So excited to be CUTTING!

First practical after half term and we asked Lisa what we were doing. When see showed us the board and it said we needed scissors, we all got very excited!

After a talk about scissors and cutting, we started guided by a step by step demonstration from Lisa.
We soon got to know how to hold out scissors and combs.

How to follow a guideline.

And cut ourselves!

Yeah we managed it.

Our experience of roller setting.

It was fun to start something new and see what different ways there are to style hair.
We were all eager to start our sets after our demonstration.

We managed a complete set each! Not bad for our first time. We even had time to dry them and produce lots of different styles.

Although some of us found using the rollers a bit painful.

Hairdressing is not as easy as we first thought. It hurts!

Caring for our hands.

We had a lovely relaxing session today learning about hand massages.
After watching a demonstration we got to try it out for ourselves.

Mamoona looks very relaxed.

But not as relaxed as Zahir who was nearly falling asleep after a proper pampering.
( don't worry the girls got their turn too)

Some of us had never experienced a hand massage before and now look forward to bringing models to practise on.

Shampooing and Blowdrying session number one

Our first 'proper' practical today.
We had a demonstration of shampooing then got the chance to practise ourselves.

We learnt what the massages are called and put them into practise.

After a chat about sectioning and blowdrying skills, we started.

Great root to tip airflow Loni!

Star of the day has to go to Mamoona for a fantastically smoooooooth blowdry.
Look at the shine on that!
She looks happy too.
Well done Mamoona.
